Feelings: Do Our Feelings Always Reflect Reality?

Friday, November 7th, 2014

If one was to watch a film that had no colour or sound, it is not going to be the same as a film that has colour and sound. It is unlikely to be as engaging or as entertaining, and one might soon lose interest and turn it off or walk away from what they’re watching.

And the same could be said about the impact that feelings have on one’s life. If one was unable to feel, their life would feel empty and without meaning. Through having the ability to feel, life is brought to life and given meaning.

Things You Can Do To Be More Productive

Friday, July 18th, 2014

Have you ever come across a person who seems to get so much work done and tend to be to the most productive person? Productive people have the ability to shape their lifestyle in such a way that has given them an ability to do it all.

Below are few things which can help you become a productive person.

1. Sleep Properly

Your body works just like a battery, it also needs to get restored. Your body restores itself during sleep. When you do not get a proper sleep, you feel low the next day. Your brain is not functioning at its full capacity.  Your body starts craving for sugar. Sleep should be one of the top priorities of your working day. Make a habit of sleeping at least six hours every night.

A Mind-Made Illusion

In his book Influence Science and Practice, author Robert Cialdini shares a story capturing the transformative essence of fear. In a tribe in southern Africa, the Thonga people hold an annual initiation for young boys prior to becoming a man. A young Thonga boy must endure a series of intense physical challenges before he is admitted to adulthood.

The three-month ritual consists of six major trials: beatings, exposure to cold, thirst, eating of unsavoury foods, punishment and the threat of death. As bizarre as some of these rituals may sound, the young boy emerges a man and in doing so has learned to silence his inner demon – fear.

How to Control Your Emotions

Friday, May 23rd, 2014

Frozen and consumed by the emotion. Have you ever experienced the intensity of emotions such as anger, anxiety or fear? It seems there is little we can do to reason with the emotion as it floods the mind and body with its raging intensity.

Don’t despair. Emotions are a part of our human experience. The word emotion as author Daniel Siegel suggests, evokes motion that motivate us to act in response to the meaning we assign to whatever is happening to us at the time.
