The situation is similar to that of Europe in the late 1930s. Before the Second World War, people were busy working, fixing up their houses, planning vacations and saving for their children’s education and their retirement. There were many warnings that war was coming, but they were dismissed by mainstream politicians. As a result, when war broke out in 1939, it came as a shock to most people.

Priorities Changed Overnight
The mobilization for war that took place in the United States after it was attacked by Japan is an example of how rapid change is possible when people unite behind a common cause. Priorities changed overnight. Defeating fascism was suddenly more important than paying off the mortgage or buying new furniture. The entire economy was changed over from consumer to military production within a few months.

Men went to war, women went into the factories and the country went from high unemployment to a labor shortage. Although the United States was only at war for three and a half years, during this time enormous quantities of military goods were produced and scientific breakthroughs were made in many areas including radar, jet aircraft and nuclear energy.

The example of the Second World War shows that once the majority of people and governments in the world reach agreement on the urgent need to create a sustainable global economy, economic structures and technologies can be rapidly transformed. As the old saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way.

The Sceptics
Sceptics argue that attempts to create a sustainable economy will result in economic ruin. In contrast, studies by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) suggest that greenhouse gas emissions could be cut by a third by 2030 at a cost of just 0.03% of the annual growth of the world GDP. The complete transformation of the global economy will be much more expensive. However, it is not likely to cost more than the Second World War, when American military expenditures rose from1% of the national income in 1939 to 42% in 1944—an enormous effort that did not destroy the American economy.

It is estimated that the Iraq war will cost the United States between $1 trillion and $4 trillion. If this money had instead been invested in developing renewable energies, by now the US would be well on the way to creating a more efficient, prosperous and sustainable economy and freeing itself from dependence on expensive energy imports.

People need to become aware that the transformation of the global system is a requirement, not a choice. Living in a continually degrading world where the climate becomes hotter and more erratic each year, and where global crises grow progressively worse is not an option. This future would be a nightmare from which we and our children could not awake.

The problem is that most people and most governments will not become convinced of the need for change until the global economy has begun to collapse. This process will cause immense misery and damage. The danger is that the downward spiral of poverty, hunger, wars and environmental destruction will become unmanageable and humanity will cross one ecological and social tipping point after another.

Will People Wake Up?
The hope is that as the global environment and economy begin to collapse, the majority of people will wake up to the urgent need for constructive change. But for this to happen a clear vision of a sustainable alternative must already exist and be supported by a critical mass of well-organized people. Progressives will also need to give more and more leadership as the crises mount. We will need to intervene to stop the descent towards disaster, chart a constructive course of action and guide the process of global reorganization.

Millions of people and thousands of organizations are already working towards a better future. The momentum for change is further supported by the emergence of systems-based societal and material technologies. But our trump card is the transformative power of societal evolution.

Not only is knowledge spreading around the world, but a global consciousness is developing – awareness that humanity is interconnected and that the fate of our species is inextricably bound up with the fate of all life on Earth. With this awareness come new views, new values and new relationships. A sustainable global society has already begun to emerge, and unless there is a catastrophic collapse, its evolution cannot be stopped.

Our role is to accelerate the process through helping the emerging elements of the new sustainable system come together. We can do this through:

• Developing a common vision of a sustainable future
• Networking knowledge of local and global problems and solutions
• Helping to develop coalitions in support of constructive initiatives
• Helping communities develop sustainable solutions through empowering them with systems tools and other resources

Societal evolution is magical because it is a self-organizing process involving billions of people. It is too vast and complex a process to be either directed or controlled, but it can be supported. And at this critical juncture, the evolution of our species needs all the protection and support that we can give.

Love and faith: the gift of our ancestors
In 1950 few people could imagine how electronics would change the world. In 1985 few people could imagine the rapid and relatively non-violent collapse of the Soviet Union. Few people can now imagine that industrial civilization will either collapse or be transformed within their lifetimes. But it will. We are living in a time of great changes, great fears and great opportunities.

It is our destiny to save life on Earth. Although we are the best educated generations in history and although we have tools that our forebears could never have dreamed of possessing, still the challenges are daunting. Will we have the wisdom, the courage and the commitment to avoid disaster and create a sustainable future? If we look to the past, we can have hope for the future. Everyone that is alive today is here because of the love and commitment of thousands of previous generations.

You wouldn’t exist if any one of your ancestors had not been protected and cared for as a child. No generation in the past ever neglected or failed in their duty to future generations, so why should we? We are the products of a long evolutionary journey that has been sustained by constant love and faith. The same love will give us the courage and strength to create a better world for the countless generations that are still to come.

This process takes years, and often decades. Much of the medical progress in the last fifty years has resulted from studies that build upon studies, from step by step incremental experimentation, with each step extending the reach of our knowledge a little bit further.

This evolutionary progress over the lifetimes of the last few generations has encouraged us to think that this is the way that science progresses. Yes, it is a way – but it is not the only way. There are scores of important medical procedures that were discovered years, or decades, or even centuries, before the experimental confirmation arrived to demonstrate the principles behind the treatment.

Larry Dossey, in his book Healing Beyond the Body, urges us to “Consider many therapies that are now commonplace, such as the use of aspirin, quinine, colchicine, and penicillin. For a long time we knew that they worked before we knew how.… This should alarm no one who has even a meager understanding of how medicine has progressed through the ages.”

“The scientist knows that in the history of ideas,” observes Michael Gaugelin in The Cosmic Clocks, “magic always precedes science, that the intuition of phenomena  anticipates their objective knowledge.” The incremental approach to experimentation, with each study advancing the frontier of knowledge a little further, has served medicine well in areas such as surgery.

But the incremental approach has broken down when it comes to many of the pressing afflictions rampant in our society, such as depression, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and autoimmune diseases. It has also made barely a dent in one of the three largest killers in Western societies: cancer. Cancer rates, when adjusted for age, have barely budged in fifty years.

Surgical procedures to excise cancer tumors have improved, individual drugs have been refined, and drug cocktails have been created, but these are minor variations on themes whose usefulness has been endlessly
explored. Ralph Snyderman, eminent physician and researcher at Duke University, sums it up with these words: “Most of our nation’s investment in health is wasted on an irrational, uncoordinated, and
inefficient system that spends more than two-thirds of each dollar treating largely irreversible chronic diseases.”

Total health spending in the U.S. is over two trillion dollars a year; the amount spent on all alternative therapies is estimated at just two tenths of one percent of that figure. For every naturopath or licensed acupuncturist in the U.S., there are seventy allopathic physicians,  even though such treatments can work where mainstream medicine fails, are believed effective by over 74% of the population, 41 and can certainly be successful in supplementing conventional therapies.

It also often works better than mainstream medicine for many of the predominant disease of post – industrial cultures, such as autoimmune conditions and cancer. Epigenetics gives us tools to understand why our health can be affected by so many different healing modalities.

Epigenetic Medicine
We are comfortable with incremental exploration. Yet many changes are not incremental, but very sudden. The expansion of a balloon as air is injected is smooth and incremental. A balloon popping is sudden and discontinuous. Water heated in a kettle shows little change. Then, suddenly and discontinuously, it bursts into a boil.

This is the kind of breakthrough of which we find ourselves on the verge. Like the first bubbles appearing in the bottom of a pan, the possibilities of epigenetic medicine, combining integrative medicine with the breakthroughs of the new psychology, are popping through the most fundamental assumptions of our current model.

We are starting, as a society, to notice the provocative research showing the effects our thoughts and emotions have on our genes. “Science goes where you imagine it,” says one researcher, and leading – edge therapies are now imagining science going in the direction of some of the powerful, safe, and effective new therapies that are emerging. Hundreds of thousands of people are dying each year, and millions more are suffering, from conditions that might be alleviated by epigenetic medicine.

The human family is in the midst of the most significant transformation of consciousness since its emergence in Africa over one hundred thousand years ago. Consciousness has been evolving for billions of years from the first cell to us. We are becoming aware that through our own consciousness the universe can know itself. This awareness reveals incredible new potential for our individual and collective humanity.

Simultaneously, we are the first species on this Earth aware that we can destroy ourselves by our own action. This may be the greatest wake-up call to the evolution of consciousness since the origin of Homo Sapiens. We now realize that we are affecting our own evolution by everything we do.

This knowledge awakens in us the aspiration to become more conscious through subjective practices including meditation, reflection, prayer, intuition, creativity, and conscious choice making that accelerate our evolution in the direction of unity consciousness and inspire us to deeply align our collective vision.

The Challenge
At this juncture in human history, urgent global crises challenge us to learn to live sustainably, in harmony and gratitude with one another and with the living universe. The good news is that a compelling new story of our potential as a whole human species is emerging-a story of collaboration, citizen-action, dialogue and new understandings propelled by unprecedented levels of democratic freedom, multicultural exchange, and access to communication technologies. Opportunities For Action
We recognize that the inner and outer aspects of life evolve together. A dramatic awakening in consciousness will involve an equally dramatic shift in outward aspects of our lives. In particular, we see the following as vital opportunities for our conscious evolution, both personally and collectively:

Cultivating a Paradigm of Aliveness:We regard the universe as deeply alive and conscious by nature. In a living universe, our sense of subtle connection and participation with life around us is the basis for a compassionate and cooperative approach to living.

Conscious businesses that are aware of the scope, depth, and long-range impacts of their actions are key to achieving sustainability.. Business must become an ethical steward of the Earth’s ecology and consciously establish an economic basis for a future of equitably shared abundance.

Promoting Health and Healing
The science of mind-body-spirit health has demonstrated the profound connection between the health of a whole person and the health of the system in which he or she lives. Whole systems healing, respecting both traditional knowledge and modern sciences, must be supported in physical, social, and spiritual domains.

Building Global Community
The new story is about all of us who share this planet. Together, we can create a culture of peace that eliminates the need for armed conflict, respecting and appreciating the glorious diversity of our human family.

Because the end of anything also marks the beginning of what comes next, we’re also living the start of what follows the end of time: the next world age, which ancient traditions called the great cycle.

From the epic poems of India’s Mahabharata to the oral traditions of indigenous Americans and the biblical story of Revelation, those who have come before us knew that the end of time was coming. They knew, because it always does. Every 5,125 years, the earth and our solar system reach a place in their journey through the heavens that marks the end of precisely such a cycle. With that end, a new world age begins. Apparently it’s always been this way.

For at least four such cycles (or five, according to the Mesoamerican traditions of the Aztec and the Maya peoples), our ancestors endured the changes in global magnetic fields, climate, diminishing resources, and rising sea levels that come with the end of time. They did so without satellites and the Internet or computer models to help them prepare for such a radical shift.

The fact that they lived to tell the story stands as a powerful testament to an undeniable truth: it tells us beyond any reasonable doubt that the inhabitants of our planet have survived the end of world ages in the past. Beyond simply surviving, our ancestors learned from the difficulties that can accompany the change. In the words of their day, they did their best to tell us what it means to live such a rare moment in history. It’s a good thing they did, because such events are few and far between. Only five generations in the last 26,000 years have experienced the shift of world ages. We will be the sixth.

The present world age isn’t something that will simply fade away into the sunset of a time that seems to perpetually linger somewhere “out there” in our future. Just the opposite: our world age has an expiration date. It ends at a specific time, with a specific event, on a day that was marked on a calendar more than 2,000 years ago. There is no secret about that date. The Maya who calculated it also inscribed it as a permanent record for future generations. The date is etched into stone monuments that were built to last until the end of time.

When the date is translated to our familiar system of time, the message becomes clear. It tells us that our present world cycle will conclude with the winter solstice that takes place on December 21 in the year 2012. It’s on this date that the mysterious Maya identified the astonishing astronomical events that will mark the end of our age . . . and they did so more than two millennia ago.

The reason:
Physically, our solar system is moving through shortest part of an orbit that looks like a flattened circle, an ellipsis whose far end carries us to the most distant point from the core of our home galaxy, the Milky Way.

The physical effect:
Both ancient traditions and modern science tell us that our location in this cyclic orbit determines how we experience the powerful sources of energy, such as the “massive magnetic fields,” which radiate from our galaxy’s core. Recent studies suggest that it is precisely such cycles that may explain the mysterious patterns of biodiversity – the rise and fall of life on Earth, such as the mass extinctions that happened 250 and 450 million years ago.

Additionally, modern discoveries confirm that Earth’s position throughout the journey (orbit, tilt, and wobble) create the ever-changing cycles that influence everything from temperature and climate to polar ice and the magnetic fields of the earth. Details of these effects will be discussed throughout the book.

The emotional/spiritual effect:
As we travel farther from our galaxy’s core, our distance from the energy located there was described by ancient traditions as the loss of a connection that we sense both spiritually and emotionally. Scientific links between the quality of Earth’s magnetic fields, how they’re affected by cosmic conditions, and our feeling of well-being seem to precisely support such ancient beliefs.

In the same way that Earth’s rotation makes the darkest part of the night appear just before the dawn, our position in the heavens is such that the darkest part of our world age appears right before our heavenly orbit begins the return that brings us closer to our galaxy’s core. With that return, we experience relief from the cataclysmic forces of the cycle’s darkness. And just as the night must pass in order to get to the new day, the only way to arrive at the light of the next cycle is to finish the darkness of this one.

We all know that dark experiences definitely exist in our world, and we don’t need to look far to find them; however, there’s also more to life than the suffering that the ancients foresaw – much more. Even in our time of great darkness, the polarities of peace, healing, love, and compassion are alive, well, and abundant.

Our ancestors had an amazingly deep grasp of just what our experience of cosmic cycles means on multiple levels.

Somehow they knew that Earth’s position in the heavens would affect the physical conditions in our world, as well as the emotional and spiritual experiences that we need to embrace them. Through myth, analogy, and metaphor, they reminded us that the farther we travel away from the source of such powerful energy, the deeper we are in darkness and the more out of sync we find ourselves with the fields that influence life here on Earth. From the traditions of the Hopi to the ancient Vedas, it’s this experience of separateness that is credited with our sense of being lost as well.

Our ancestors cautioned that at the most distant point in our cycle, we would forget who we are – our connectedness to one another and the earth. They told us that we would forget our past. It’s precisely this disconnected feeling that seems to be the consequence of the cyclic journey that carries us to the far end of our galactic orbit. It’s also the fear that is spawned by such feelings that has led to the chaos, war, and destruction at the end of cycles past.

The key to 2012 and our time in history is to understand the language of nature’s cycles and to use that language today to prepare for the future. Ultimately we may discover that our ability to understand and apply the “rules” of Fractal Time holds the key to our deepest healing, our greatest joy, and our survival as a species.

Why does evolution accelerate? The answer lies in the fact that new evolutionary breakthroughs often facilitate future advances. Multicellular organisms, sexual reproduction, and the emergence of nervous systems have each done their part to hasten the pace of evolutionary change. Now, with the emergence of human beings, two new features are speeding development yet further.

Speech allows us to share our experiences and understandings with each other, giving us the ability to accumulate a collective body of knowledge. While our hands, one the most versatile organs Nature has evolved, have given us the ability to take the clay of Mother Earth and reshape it to our own ends. Combining these two evolutionary breakthroughs has made us the most creative species this planet has ever known. And the more we apply that creativity, the faster things change.

The second part, “The Crisis” focuses on the less welcome consequences of humanity’s rapid development, and the devastation we are bringing to the rest of the planet. How is it, we ask, that a species that is in some ways so intelligent can in other ways be so short-sighted? Where have we gone wrong?

These questions lead on to an exploration of our inner needs and the way our societies have seduced us – in effect hypnotized us – into a set of false assumptions about what it is we really want, and how to go about achieving it. Amplified by the might of our technologies, these errors of thinking are now having global ramifications. We see that the global crisis is, at its root, a crisis of consciousness.

If we are to navigate ourselves safely through this critical moment of history we must make a break with the past, and look at ourselves and our world with fresh eyes. This will entail a fundamental shift in thinking and perception – a shift in consciousness more profound and far-reaching than any in our history. It will mean awakening to the wisdom that lies within us all, of which the great sages have always spoken. This is our next step in evolution, not an outer step, but an inner step.

The third part, “The Awakening” is more spiritual in tone. It asks: How can we wake up? How can we liberate our minds from outdated habits of thinking and make the inner changes that are being demanded of us? The answer involves learning to be more in the present moment, less caught up in our judgments of the past and our attachments to future outcomes.

One of the most important areas of practice is our personal relationships. It is here that we frequently meet the various patterns that we need to let go of, and here that we have the most opportunity to learn new ways of thinking and perceiving. As we do, we rediscover the true meaning of love.

The final part, “The Future ,” looks at where we may be headed. It considers some of the many prophecies that seem to foretell these turbulent times. And it looks behind their literal interpretations to deeper meanings, suggesting that they are metaphors for inner transformation and awakening.

Will we wake up in time, and avoid catastrophe? That is still an open question. If we do not, evolution on this planet could be set back to a new Dark Age perhaps; or worse, back to the primeval soup. On the other hand, if we do come to our senses, then it seems very likely that our rate of development – particularly our rate of inner development – will continue to grow faster and faster.

What will happen if change is compressed from decades to years to months . . . ? We could be approaching a time of unimaginably rapid personal and social transformation – an evolutionary climax more profound than most of us have ever dared imagine?

Finally, we ask whether there could, after all, be a purpose to evolution? Recent work in cosmology suggests the answer may be “Yes.” The Universe seems to be set up so that conscious creatures like us can evolve, capable of knowing Creation in all its dimensions. Could we be on the brink of completing this process of cosmic self-discovery here on planet Earth? The answer to that is up to us.

The Venus Project is in the process of introducing a set of values and procedures that may enable us to achieve social nucleation. Our project will provide the designs and blueprints for a prototype community to test the validity of our proposals; we will strive to achieve a relevant orientation by which people may adapt intellectually and emotionally to our new technological age. We feel that anything short of overall social design would be inappropriate and ineffective.

Since we begin in a monetary-based society, the means for raising funds to construct this experimental community can be accomplished in several different ways. Another possibility is the building of a theme park where visitors would actually experience some of the many benefits of The Venus Project’s proposals. Books, videos, blueprints, models, a movie script, and the 25-acre research and development center have already been completed.

Any funds raised by these proposed projects, along with contributions, publications, videos, seminars, lectures, and grants, will be used to help initiate and construct the first experimental city.

Our proposals are submitted to the general public and to all educational institutions. We invite your participation. If enough people find the proposals acceptable and join with us in this new advocacy, we could form the nucleus of an organization to more forcefully implement the aims of The Venus Project.

Change
During the great depression of 1929 when banks failed and people were laid off, things seemed hopeless. Those conditions brought about new organizations to address the many problems – everything from Mankind United, Socialism, Communism, Technocracy, and The World Federalist. They produced social awareness on a large scale. These conditions are sometimes referred to as bio-social pressures or the march of events.

At present, people are not well enough informed to devise a relevant and workable social system through rational methods. The Venus Project will not be installed by today’s political leaders who are not appointed to change things but to keep things as they are. It is only through the failure of existing social institutions and political incompetence that people will seek other possible social alternatives. They are mainly motivated only by severe conditions that threaten their safety and existence.

No nation today is about to give up its sovereignty for a social arrangement that has never been tried. Therefore it will take a social breakdown to stimulate the search for alternative social designs. This has been the case throughout human history.

The Breakdown
The Venus Project can not be put into practice on a global scale until the economic systems of the world fail to provide for the needs of people.

What will bring about the collapse of the world’s monetary systems is the infusion of automation and the outsourcing of jobs. This includes not only assembly line workers but also doctors, engineers, architects, and the like. As workers and professionals lose their purchasing power, the industries that depend on them can no longer function. This will bring an end to the monetary system. It is not a question of owners giving up their industries so much as the fact that people will not have the purchasing power to sustain this system.

This breakdown is already well underway on a global scale.

While these drastic conditions will help produce the motivation for social change, no individual or organization has laid out what changes are necessary and how to bring them about. Our current system is not working. Unless people are aware of, or knowledgeable about what is needed, they will continue to repeat the same mistakes – war, recession, boom and bust, hunger, poverty, and much unnecessary human suffering.

The aims of The Venus Project cannot be achieved until people become aware of its proposals and aims.

Therefore, our main objective is education through the media. If enough people learn about this direction, accept these proposals, and wish to organize to bring it about, we will then work toward the building of a first experimental city. The Venus Project has designs and blueprints for a prototype community.

Experimental City
The Venus Project proposes the building of a new experimental city whose purpose is two-fold:

1. To test the workability of The Venus Project’s designs and proposals, and to provide the information necessary to enable people to adjust intellectually and emotionally to social transition.

2. To establish a permanent planning center that will be used for future long and short-term planning of global projects to help implement a resource-based economy and overcome scarcity, hunger, poverty, and other social ills.

This would not be a private enterprise venture for a select few but would be an open city for the public to visit. The proposed circular configuration of these new cities is not just stylized architectural conceptualizations; they are the result of years of research into providing an environment that can best serve the needs of the inhabitants and yet conserve resources. Without extensive knowledge of the symbiotic relationship between humanity and its environment, it would be extremely difficult to develop workable solutions to our many problems. The Venus Project has taken this and many other factors into careful consideration.

The decisions of a transitional government in this environment would be based upon what is needed to reach the goals of a humane, environmentally sound, and technically sustainable society.

Like all other innovative social projects, it starts out with a few devoted people who dedicate their time to informing others about the humane benefits of this new direction. People are invited to help in whatever capacity they can during the initial phases of the new experimental city. An interdisciplinary team of systems engineers, computer programmers, architects, city planners, sociologists, educators, etc would also be needed.

The design of The Venus Project does not regard environmental conditions as fixed or static. We must allow for adaptation within the system as a continuous process. This will avoid perpetuating temporary arrangements beyond their period of usefulness.

This circular design could be the prototype for a series of new cities to be constructed in various places throughout the world. The rate of progression will depend upon the availability of funds raised and how many people identify with, participate in, and support this direction.

As these new communities develop and become more widely accepted, they may very well form the basis of a new society, preferably through the process of evolution rather than revolution.

The Venus Project does not advocate dissolving the existing free-enterprise system, we believe it will come to an end of its own accord as a part of social evolution. We encourage you to become better informed about the proposals of this project through our books and videos, and invite you to join with us in working toward the realization of a new civilization that could provide a better life for everyone.

In Conclusion
Many people want to know what to do immediately to help bring about global unification. If you identify with the proposals of The Venus Project, you can help bring it about by learning more about us through our books and DVD’s. You can help promote this direction in any way you are able. Speaking to others about these ideas, fund raising, grant writing, helping with publicity, promoting lecture tours, or helping to produce promotional materials will all help. If you are in a position to initiate the motion picture this would be very important. There is a lot to do and we need the help of many people in bringing these ideas to the public.

The future is our responsibility; if we fail to accept this responsibility, others will do our thinking for us.

This is because resource shortages and failing ecosystems will not only limit the ability of the global economy to expand, but cause it to contract. The result will be growing economic and social crises, which will in turn provoke more local, regional and international conflicts. As a consequence the industrial system will weaken while both pre- and post-industrial forces will strengthen.

These three forces will increasingly converge into a single dynamic because there are only two possible outcomes for humanity—either we will continue to destroy our environments until our economies and societies completely collapse, or we will create viable societies and survive. The third alternative, a return to a preindustrial past, is not realistic for most of the people on Earth.

The population of the world is now too large and the environment too damaged to permit most people to live in hunter-gatherer, herder-cultivator or even agrarian societies (i.e. societies dependent on traditional farming technologies). However, it is possible now and will be possible in the future for a minority of the world’s population to live in sustainable pre-industrial communities where they can maintain, restore and develop their traditional lifestyles.

This means that there are only two options available for traditional groups opposed to modernization: they can either develop sustainable solutions that are appropriate for their cultures and physical environments, or they can make futile attempts to restore environmentally and socially obsolete social systems. The latter efforts will only increase chaos and accelerate the collapse of the global system into failed states and warring tribes.

As a result we can say that all events occurring on the planet today are part of two fundamental, major trends: they either support continuing environmental degradation and unsustainable outcomes, or they support the transformation of the global system and sustainable outcomes. At present the destructive trend towards collapse is the dominant trend and the constructive trend towards transformation is the emerging trend. Our futures will be determined by how these two interrelated trends develop.

The Three Possible Future Scenarios
Over the coming decades, the two major trends can produce three possible scenarios: rapid collapse, delayed collapse and (if major irreversible ecological damage has not yet occurred) transformation.

Rapid Collapse
The majority of the world’s political and business leaders resist making major changes and continue with business as usual. As a consequence the pace of environmental destruction will increase and resource shortages will rapidly worsen.

The response to shortages will be to increase the rate of exploitation of the planet’s remaining natural capital, a process that will accelerate the destruction of major ecosystems. At some point in the near future cascading environmental, economic and political crises will become uncontrollable. This will cause irreversible damage to social and biophysical systems and bring about the catastrophic collapse of industrial civilization.

Delayed Collapse
The majority of political and business leaders proactively introduce environmentally friendly technologies and provide emergency economic support to prevent unrest and conflict. These efforts will temporarily stabilize the industrial system and slow the pace of global warming and environmental destruction. However, attempts to improve the system without making fundamental changes to its unsustainable culture and economy will fail.

The environment will continue to degrade, and efforts to manage crises will consume more and more scarce resources. Although system failure will be delayed, the eventual result will be the same as in the first scenario: the inevitable collapse of major ecosystems and human societies.

Transformation
As regional and global crises grow and the world economy begins to fail, it becomes increasingly clear to people all over the world that the current global system is unsustainable and heading for catastrophic collapse.

More and more people will then question the destructive values and institutions of the industrial system and begin to look for constructive alternatives — pathways to survival. Large numbers of people will be attracted to the developing systems-based vision of a sustainable future. The emergence of this new paradigm will enable the rapid constructive transformation of global views, values, technologies and social structures.

That brings us to Spontaneous Evolution. We trace the four evolving stories of Animism, Polytheism, Monotheism and Scientific Materialism as we recognize that each has added depth of knowledge and awareness that has brought us to where we are now. Most importantly, we emphasize one understanding: They are all stories. They aren’t “reality,” but merely representations of reality.

Next, we turn to the tenets of the current dominant paradigm, Scientific Materialism, beliefs we call The Four Myth-Perceptions of the Apocalypse. Ironically but not surprisingly, the foundational “pet dogmas” of the “religion” of science have all been scientifically disproved! These include:

• Only Matter Matters
• Survival of the Fittest
• It’s in the Genes
• Evolution is a Random Process

We now know that the field is the governing force over matter.  We know that systems evolve to maintain homeostasis so survival of the fittest has been updated to the “thrival of the fittingest.”  We know that our genes are activated by signals from the environment. And we understand that evolution is far from random, but is rather an intentional expansion of awareness and community.

Given these “myth-perceptions,” it shouldn’t be surprising that institutions based on these distorted and false beliefs would be dysfunctional.  Think of it this way. When we live in a world that denies the invisible, we cut ourselves off from that power source. When we believe that human nature is about domination, we end up using a disproportional amount of our resources fighting one another.

When we fail to understand the connection between belief and biology, we accept our fate as victims rather than our destiny as co-creators.  When we think of the nature of life as random, we fail to understand or use the patterns of coherence that are the foundation of health and sanity.

Finally, in the third part of the series, which we call “Changing the Guard and Re-Growing the Garden,” we explore the implications of our new understandings.  We take a look at the highly functional community of cells underneath our skin, and humbly recognize that they may be smarter than we are!  After all, every day some 50 trillion of our cellular citizens work together in cooperation to bring “you” to the world.

Underneath the skin, there is universal health care and full employment – truly no cell left behind.  Our organs work in cooperation.  You never hear about the liver invading the pancreas demanding the Islets of Langerhans.  In the cellular economy, every participating cell gets what it needs to thrive.  However, ATP – which is even called “the coin of the realm” – flows to wherever it can most benefit the system as a whole.

Using the wisdom of our cells as a starting point, along with the understanding that every phase of evolution – including the evolution of human culture – involves expanded awareness and community, we explore the future of economics, politics, spirituality and personal endeavor.

As we free ourselves of obsolete programming – individual and cultural – we then become free to write a new story.  What if we declared an end to the old story of domination, greed, fear and mutual-hatred?  What if we acknowledged all old grievances in a world-wide ceremony, and declared ourselves healed?

What if we put a final end to the old story by saying, “and they lived happily ever after?”  And then, what if we immediately began living into that happily ever after by bringing our own happiness with us?  The possibilities we could unleash … are impossible to imagine!

It is time to claim the UNITY. Our outmoded social systems have broken apart and we must work together to create a sustainable global society, where everyone is taken care of and everyone is truly free.

Actions for Social Transformation You Can Take:

1.  Expose the Banking Fraud – Expose the Fed Cartel
Boycott Citibank, JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America, these banks are the most powerful controllers within the corrupt federal system. It’s time to boycott these institutions.

• If you have a bank account or a credit card with any of them- move your money to another bank.
• If you have a mortgage with them – refinance with another bank.
• If you own their stock – sell it.
• If you work for them – quit.

This gesture will express contempt for true powers behind the private banking cartel known as the federal reserve and create awareness about the fraud of the banking system itself.

2. Boycott the News Networks – Use and Protect the Internet
Turn off the TV news and visit the emerging independent news agencies on the internet. For your information CNN, NBC, ABC, and Fox and all others present all news pre-filtered to maintain the status quo.

With 4 corporations owning all major media outlets, objective information is impossible, this is the true beauty of the Internet. And the establishment had been losing control because of this free flow of information. We must protect the internet at all times as it truly is our savior right now.

3. Boycott the Military
Don’t ever let yourself, your family or anyone you know to ever join the military. This is an obsolete institution now used exclusively for maintaining an establishment that is no longer relevant. U.S. Soldiers in Iraq work for U.S. Corporations not for the people.

Propaganda forces us to believe that war is natural and the military is an honorable institution. Well, if war is natural why are there 18 suicides every single day by American veterans who have post traumatic stress disorder. If our military men and women are so honored why is it that 25% of the American homeless population are veterans.

4. Boycott the Energy Companies
Stop supporting the energy companies. If you live in a detached house – get off the grid. Investigate every means in making your home self sustainable with clean energy. Solar, wind and other renewable energies are now affordable consumer realities. And considering the never ending rising cost of traditional energies it will likely be a cheaper investment over time.

If you drive, get the smallest car you can. Consider using one of the many conversion technologies that can enable your car to be a hybrid, electric or run on anything other than establishment fuels.

5. Reject the Political System
Focus on working to dissolve the outdated system of politics, in favor of technological redesign.  The illusion of democracy is an insult to our intelligence. In a monetary system there is no such thing as a true democracy and there never was. We have two political parties owned by the same set of corporate lobbyist.

They are placed in positions by the corporations with popularity, artificially projected by their media.

In a system of inherent corruption the change of personnel every couple of years has varied little relevance. Instead of pretending that the political game has any true meaning focus your energy on how to transcend this failed system.

6. Join the Movement
Go to the Zeitgeist website and help create the largest mass movement for social change the world has ever seen. We must mobilize and educate everyone about the inherent corruption of our current world system.

Along with the only true sustainable solutions declaring all the resources on the planet as common heritage to all people, while informing everyone as to the true state of technology and how we can all be free if the world works together rather than fights.

The choice lies with you. You can continue to be a slave to the financial system and watch the continuous wars, depressions and injustice across the globe; while placating yourself with vain entertainment and materialistic garbage. Or you can focus your energy on true, meaningful, lasting, holistic change, which actually has the realistic ability to support and free all humans with no one left behind.

But in the end of the most relevant change must occur first inside of you. The real revolution is the revolution of consciousness. And each one of us first needs to eliminate the diversionary, materialistic noise we have been conditioned to think is true, while discovering, amplifying, and aligning with the signal coming from our true and empirical oneness. It is up to you.
