Bad Dreams: Can Trapped Emotions Cause Bad Dreams?

Monday, July 28th, 2014

While some people will be familiar with their dreams, other people won’t be. When some people wake up it is going to be easy for them to remember what took place in most cases and they could keep their dreams alive by writing about what happened.

And for others, they might remember what took place for a short while afterwards and for others, their memory will be completely blank. So during those times when one soon forgets what happened, they are not going to be able to gain any kind of insight from what took place.

The same could be said for the person who doesn’t remember anything when they wake up. However, their outlook could be that they simply don’t dream and therefore they are not missing out on anything.

How to Control Your Emotions

Friday, May 23rd, 2014

Intense emotions can arise at the most inopportune times, with the capacity to overwhelm you when least expect it. Your mind shuts down and instantaneously you’re a deer in the headlights. Frozen and consumed by the emotion. Have you ever experienced the intensity of emotions such as anger, anxiety or fear? It seems there is little we can do to reason with the emotion as it floods the mind and body with its raging intensity.

Don’t despair. Emotions are a part of our human experience. The word emotion as author Daniel Siegel suggests, evokes motion that motivate us to act in response to the meaning we assign to whatever is happening to us at the time.

What You Need to Achieve in Life

Monday, April 21st, 2014

Our body and minds need certain things to function correctly and work effectively. Among usual things such as positive thinking, stress reduction and getting plenty of exercise, our body needs other aspects, like mental stimulation.

Here are a few of the things we should be doing, to give our bodies what they need to enable us to achieve in life.

1. We need to feel in control
Everyone loves being in control of what happens to them. Feeling in control and actually being in control are two different things though and it’s hard to make that balance. Start to accept that you can’t control everything, and focus on the things you can control in your life. Being able to coach yourself to do this will allow you to achieve greater things, as you’ll realise what is and isn’t holding you back.

People Pleasing: Why Do Some People Only Feel Safe When They Are Pleasing Others?

Friday, April 11th, 2014

When it comes to behaviours that will have a negative impact on one’s life, trying to please others is high on the list. And this doesn’t relate to pleasing others on the odd occasion, it relates to trying to please others all of the time.

To set out to please people every now and then is unlikely to cause too many problems for someone. But if this was something they did all of the time, it is going to have a missive impact on their life.

All the time one is pleasing other people, they are neglecting their own wants and needs.  So while pleasing others may allow one to feel accepted; it is never going to allow one to feel fulfilled.
