Forcing Your Goals Versus Empowering Your Dreams

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Many people understand the concept of setting goals in life to empower themselves. What most people don’t know is that goals require a constant stream of force behind them to keep them alive. In other words, you need to push them all the time to make them come true. What do I mean by force and push? To force something is to compel through pressure or necessity. To push a goal is to apply enough force to the goal to keep it fresh and empowered.

The Danger of Reducing Humans to Biological Machines

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

I have spent many years reflecting on the remarkable advances of science. Within the short space of my own lifetime, the impact of science and technology on humanity has been tremendous. Although my own interest in science began with curiosity about a world, foreign to me at that time, governed by technology, it was not very long before the colossal significance of science for humanity as a whole dawned on me - especially after I came into exile in 1959. There is almost no area of human life today that is not touched by the effects of science and technology.

Have you ever changed your mind in a big way? In a way that fundamentally shifted how you see yourself, your friends and family, your livelihood, even your core relationship to the world in which you live? Maybe it was a change you sought - the product of a lengthy process - or a change that was thrust upon you in a time of transition: a sudden illness, a failed relationship, the death of a loved one,or an unplanned change in career. In each case you may have examined your deepest assumptions about how to live or what has meaning for you.

Piercing Self-Illusions And Finding Your Real Power

Break through the Barriers and Experience a Life of Unlimited Potential. Can you really believe everything you see? Can you always trust everything you’re told?

Don’t we sometimes see what isn’t there or often fail to see what is? Like fleas in a flea circus, we have been trained to believe that some invisible dome defines how high we can soar, how long we will live, how healthy we’ll be, and so forth. And without questioning, we live by these self-imposed limitations that we’re totally unaware of, honor these imagined boundaries, and follow the beliefs that our sages, geniuses, entrepreneurs, and heroes have all told us to ignore.

Achieving Success By Going Straight For Your Dreams

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Most people are taking the beaten path. They think that is the path of success because people have gone before them and succeeded in that area. But it is the people who took the path not traveled in order to follow their dreams first, where there is no guarantee. Then once they have succeed, they open the way for the rest to follow. They are able to ride on their own success even further because everyone else is following them.

Money Motivation Spurs Changes For Better And Worse

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Money changes everything, and that includes changing people’s motivations for the better and their behavior toward others for the worse, according to a new study published in the international journal Science.

Florida State University psychology graduate student Nicole Mead was among a group of researchers who found that the concept of money brings about a state of self-sufficiency that allows people to work harder and more independently to achieve personal goals but makes them more socially insensitive in the process.

“Money changes people’s motivations,” Mead said. “They want to work really hard to achieve their goals. Consequently, they are less focused on other people. In this sense, money can be a barrier to social intimacy.”

Spiritual Solutions Always Involves Generosity And Gratefulness

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Recently I approached a traffic light where a man stood in shabby clothes with a three-legged dog by his side. As I waited for the light to change I looked at this scene with compassion and felt an urge to contribute something. The sign he was carrying indicated that he was homeless. The people in my car commented that he was a strong young man, there were plenty of employment opportunities, and why should anyone give to people who are capable of working. They indicated a kind of mild contempt for this man soliciting funds whom they felt “should” be working. My thoughts were on him and the fact that he cared for and fed this crippled dog. I rolled down the window and gave him several dollars for which he expressed enormous gratitude.

Understanding Personality - The Secret of Managing People

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Managing People...What\'s Personality Got To Do With It?The perception that management can and does work exists in the minds of most managers - past, present, and future. It’s a concept born at the dawn of humankind when the burden of tasks exceeded the capacity of one person to accomplish them. It was perpetuated through the ages as civilization demanded productivity beyond the capabilities of the individual.

Without some form of oversight, chaos reins, which limits the growth and evolution of civilization. Management has been the key to our evolutionary progress from the primitive to the contemporary and the foundation for the development of our society. Why then does its value continue to be questioned? Is it because we fail to recognize that personality differences prevent us from understanding that there are multiple definitions of management emanating from each of the colors?

Elevation and the Revelation of Our Better Selves

Sunday, February 11th, 2007

Here’s a puzzle: Why do we care when a stranger does a good deed for a stranger? Most theories in the social sciences say that people’s actions and feelings are motivated by self-interest. So why are we sometimes moved to tears by the good deeds or heroic actions of others?I study the moral emotions. I study the gut feelings and flashes of shame, anger, and disgust that make us feel condemnation or even hatred towards those who do bad things.
