Shift - A New Board Game For Empowering Yourself

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Six years ago, Nicole Casanova was at one of those proverbial crossroads in life. However, her mid-life crisis came at 26. Having been successful at a very young age in the San Francisco dot.com arena, she was becoming the victim of burnout. Nicole decided to take a step back, leave her slick six figure career, and give herself space to decide her next move.

After much reading and soul searching, Casanova became aware that her thoughts and actions were making her life unhappy. The former South Beach party girl who gave excess a new name and made it big as a dotcom darling, finally realized that instead of being victim of the world, she was actually responsible for her experiences. She wanted to help others make the same realization, that their thoughts created their reality, in a fun, interactive way. Armed with the knowledge that both the Game and Self-Help industries were growing markets, Casanova created and self-published the board game, Shift.

A Thought Experiment for the Heart

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Imagine, for a moment, that you are the universe. But for the purposes of this thought experiment, let us imagine that you are not the disenchanted mechanistic universe of conventional modern cosmology, but rather a deep-souled, subtly mysterious cosmos of great spiritual beauty and creative intelligence. And imagine that you are being approached by two different epistemologies-two suitors, as it were, who seek to know you. To whom would you open your deepest secrets? To which approach would you be most likely to reveal your authentic nature?

Forcing Your Goals Versus Empowering Your Dreams

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Many people understand the concept of setting goals in life to empower themselves. What most people don’t know is that goals require a constant stream of force behind them to keep them alive. In other words, you need to push them all the time to make them come true. What do I mean by force and push? To force something is to compel through pressure or necessity. To push a goal is to apply enough force to the goal to keep it fresh and empowered.

This constant pushing of your goal, while necessary, is also a detriment to effective manifestation of the goal itself. Goals are artificially created by the mind and backed up by concepts and beliefs in order for them to work. Take away the concepts and beliefs that give them the foundation to live and they will evaporate in no time.

The Danger of Reducing Humans to Biological Machines

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

I have spent many years reflecting on the remarkable advances of science. Within the short space of my own lifetime, the impact of science and technology on humanity has been tremendous. Although my own interest in science began with curiosity about a world, foreign to me at that time, governed by technology, it was not very long before the colossal significance of science for humanity as a whole dawned on me - especially after I came into exile in 1959. There is almost no area of human life today that is not touched by the effects of science and technology.
