Are You Aware of Subliminal Messages Controlling You?

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

The word subliminal means below the perception of the conscious mind. Subliminal messages can be presented as visual, audio, or in the form of electromagnetic waves. The ultimate goal of any subliminal message is to manipulate a person by altering their perceptions to produce a change in thinking patterns resulting in modified behavior.

Some people may choose to modify their own behavior with self-help tapes which use subliminal messages to change negative behaviors or thinking patterns. On the other hand, subliminal messages can be used by others to alter a person’s behavior through a type of mind control. This may seem harmless enough, however, in the wrong hands these techniques can be used to control more than just purchasing choices.

Types of Subliminal Messages

One type of visual subliminal message consists of images with a logo, word, symbol or action depicted within it that eludes conscious perception. Another type of visual subliminal message contains stimuli repeatedly flashed across a screen at fractions of a second which is too fast for the brain to consciously perceive.

Susan Boyle’s Gift

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

I am one of the nearly forty-nine million You Tube viewers who have watched Susan Boyle, the unemployed cat owner from Scotland, blow away the audience of Britain’s Got Talent.

Before she takes the stage we learn that Boyle is 47, never married, never kissed, spends her days with Pebbles the cat, and by eye-balling her: frizzy graying hair, eyebrows like caterpillars, ill-fitting dress, gray pantyhose and open-toed cream colored shoes, we assume she’s not a beauty pageant winner. The audience and judges size her up, too.

Why Not Live Life Like You Mean It?

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

It is so easy to let Ron do it. Or, in other words, to do it “ LateR on” . Why do today what we can put off till tomorrow? Perhaps this human tendency to sacrifice the important to the urgent is exacerbated today by quantum leaps in our life expectancy. Baby boomers around the world are being blessed by a second adult life. Sixty is the new Thirty and all that.

We googled “life expectancy” and found a life expectancy calculator at For $5 I learned I will live to be 97. Wow, 60 really is the new 30. Who knows how accurate this is, but the doctor on the site is the medical advisor to a Sky One television show in Britain called Change the Day You Die. Interesting.
