The Conspiracy Theory of Gratitude

Any success that you are looking to obtain is based on entering into a conspiracy with the universe.  Like all conspiracies, this relies on a reciprocal agreement between the two parties.

Believe it or not, this is one of the reasons that we have a problem with gratitude.  We don’t believe that the universe is in any way interested in seeing us achieve our goals.

Albert Einstein once posed the question, “Is the universe friendly to our desires?”  The question begs us to ask ourselves if he was really asking whether or not the universe cares one way or the other about our goals being achieved with ease or with difficulty.

Scarcity is one of the biggest misconceptions that we have about the univer that we live in.  We just don’t believe that there is enough to go around.  When we look at the world we see a very few that have a lot of money and everything that goes with it, giving the appearance that there is not much left out there for the rest of us.

It is extremely difficult to live in gratitude when we think that there is just not enough to go around and that only a chosen few are getting to soak up all of the good stuff.  When we think like this we move into competitive thinking.  In a competitive state of being we believe that we have too take things away from another person or that others are taking something away from us in order to achieve their success.  Wallace Wattles in “The Science of Getting Rich” admonishes us to stay out of this realm of thought and concentrate solely on being in a creative frame of mind.

When we start to recognize that there is nothing in this world that is not made up of energy, we begin to come to the realization that there is more than enough to go around.  In, “The Astonishing Power of Gratitude” Wes Hopper points to a scientific survey that was done where they added up everything they could find and determined that only about 4% of the available energy was used to make up the entire universe!  That means that 96% of that energy is still available, enough to create 25  more universes.  So, how difficult would it be to use a little of this energy to create some financial success for yourself?

Once we enter into a view of the world that says that there is more than enough to go around, we start to work in a more creative state of mind.  This is not to say that you can think your way to success and rely on the universe to do all of the work.  That’s where reciprocity starts to kick in.

Before the universe will use all of its abundant resources to give you what you are looking for, it is going to require something out of you.  You will have to take the action that is needed to achieve the goals that you set for yourself and you are going to have to create and hold to a belief that this goal has been accomplished.  The moment you quit taking action or hesitate in your belief, the universe will cease to assist you in achievement.

Be grateful that the universe is conspiring on your behalf.  Be grateful that you are an active partner in the creation of your life.  Make the best you can out of this conspiracy.
