Ever found yourself caught up in a never-ending spiral of negative thoughts and emotions?

I practice meditation regularly and have a good insight and control over my “inner-voice”. Yet, unlike the Buddha I’m still unable to completely banish negative thoughts. Basically, negative thinking is to be expected to a certain degree, especially when you have just had a negative experience.

However, if you’re not careful these negative thought patterns can soon become a way of life! This is a vicious circle in which you can find yourself in a cycle of misery. Safeguard Your Consciousness

Our consciousness is the core of our very being. It is molded, influenced and shaped by our choices, actions and beliefs. Basically, if you’re thoughts are dominantly negative then this is going to affect how you feel emotionally as well. Safeguard yourself against this by acknowledging your inner-voice and thwart the negativity. Use techniques such as visualizing and positive affirmations to better counteract negative thoughts, and reprogram your mind on a subconscious level.

Accept Responsibility For Your Choices & Actions

It’s easy to blame the other party whenever we find ourselves acting out of character such as during a heated debate. However, whos fault is it really? You could state the it wasnt you who started the debate and that the other person was pushing your buttons. This however is flawed and the wrong approach. You are in control of your own thoughts, feelings and emotions. A debate takes two so be mindful of your choices, actions, and reactions.

Just Roll With The Punches

Life can be rather cruel at times and certain events, circumstances, or people are bound to have a negative impact on your attitude – it’s simply unavoidable! Here’s the thing, although you cannot prevent certain circumstances, you can control how you react to them. Instead of getting yourself worked up over something beyond your control remind yourself that you’re just experiencing another one of lifes challenges, and that the silver lining in the cloud will soon present itself.

Solicite Your Feedback Wisely

Unfortunately, we’re constantly being bombarded with negative feedback from the media which directly affects our own consciousness! Safeguard your mind against negative programming, and instead empower your mind with more productive, positive activities. It’s likewise important to safeguard yourself against the negative feedback from others. Surround yourself with positive people who bring out the best in you and that make you feel good.

Keep Yourself Busy

Sometimes no matter how hard we try we just cannot level the mind. That’s when it’s time to get busy! Get stuck into something that will occupy your mind and keep you busy. If you can make these productive activities then even better as you’ll be left with a feeling of achievement afterwards which will help keep your mind clear when you settle down again.
